In order to celebrate the label will host a two-night showcase which will feature artists who present their work on the label in the near future along with pre-sales of the records. These musicians have impressed the label in recent times, and they want to allow them tell their story in an optimal environment and sound conditions. The presentation will feature an intense marathon of 18 performances in the odd and unconventional Morphine fashion. This also marks the launch of a new website featuring an online shop for records and merchandise and a booking section for the label artists and friends. The evening of October 10th will mostly feature acoustic and minimalistic performances, and the progression of concerts will vary in intensity. Starting with the Prague duo Havlovi who made Minimal Classical become an emotional and meditative genre, to the ritualistic Sugai Ken, the Japanese performer displacing time and space to recreate a ritual within which his music develops and merges. Julien Desprez will present his Acapulco Redux show, a crazy guitar and LED sonic and visual excursion, and the highly expected Mario Batkovic as a special guest will warp minds with his accordion, playing a solo session and a short duo with Rabih Beaini. The Japanese band Goat is preparing a new album for Morphine Records and will join the bill to showcase their new formation, followed by Thomas Brinkmann who will perform his Klick live set for the first time in Berlin. The night will then enter the more obscure and haunting live sets from YpY and DJ Die Soon. The concerts of October 10th will be filmed by Vincent Moon, the wizard of spiritual cinema who is known for capturing rituals, ceremonies and special performances, he will then perform his Live Cinema on October, using the concerts of the first night to create his own mix of sounds and images, however eventually deleting them in respect to the “No Photo No Video” policy of Berghain. The second night will also focus on the presentation of 4 upcoming albums that will be available for pre-sale during the event. First, Upperground Orchestra, the Italian Band of Rabih Beaini, Tommaso Cappellato, Piero Bittolo Bon and Alvise Seggi are joined by Daniele De Santis as a new band member and second drummer. This new formation will set the tone for the future shows and releases of UO; Contagious, the new project by Sabine Erklentz, Andrea Newmann and Mieko Suzuki is a no-compromise, all-crash trio that broke the borders of sounds between the electronic and the electro-acoustic; Stefan Fraunberger, who already performed Quellgeister#3 for CTM2019 will present a 4 channel version of it, while the material is now packed on a beautiful vinyl LP. Throughout the evening Marta De Pascalis will perform her magical synthesizers solo, Gorgonn is bringing his massive beats and noise alongside Container and his deadly crashing uncompromised groove. Marylou will grace the room with her tailored, delicate and energetic selection of records while Mieko Suzuki will wrap up the whole event with her smashing DJ set. Amongst the new releases on Morphine, MA’s album will also be available and the Japanese artist himself will be dropping short appearances during some of the other performances, creating a storytelling Fil Rouge made out of his own material, punctuating and spreading it out during both nights, blending the concept of Modern and Contemporary into a new shape, new narrative. This narrative is Morphine Records’ own: erratic, unorthodox and full of emotional content. ———————————————— Artwork by M-L-XL - https://www.m-l-xl.org/ morphinerecords.com http://berghain.de/event/2972 http://berghain.de/event/2973
