BURKHARD BEINS 60 / TRIO SOWARI 20
Datum: Samstag, 26.10.2024
Location: Ausland
Ort: 10437 Berlin
Straße: Lychener Straße 60
The percussionist, electronic musician and bassist Burkhard Beins is celebrating his sixtieth birthday as a constantly reinventing veteran and companion of Berlins Echtzeitmusik. For this occasion, he invites a 60-sextet made up of Berlin scene and international guests, old and new companions, for a very special, collectively improvised birthday concert as part of the series biegungen im ausland.
In his performances, the self-taught musician uses various sound objects and unusual sound generators (small electrics) in addition to the drums. Since the late 1980s he has been playing at international festivals, as well as concerts and tours in Europe and North America. Burkhard Beins has already worked with countless musicians and composers, including Keith Rowe, Sven-Åke Johansson, Peter Niklas Wilson, Orm Finnendahl, John Tilbury, Charlemagne Palestine and Axel Dörner. He is a member of the ensembles Perlonex (with Ignaz Schick), Activity Center (with Michael Renkel), Polwechsel, The Sealed Knot, Phosphor, Trio Sowari, BBB and others.
Trio Sowari brings together three musicians who have developed a very personal approach to their instrument. Respectively based in London, Paris and Berlin, Phil Durrant, Bertrand Denzler and Burkhard Beins never cease to widen the scope of their research at the crossroads of different acoustic and electronic worlds. Beyond the rigour of their improvisations, their music is nourished by multiple influences and the countless collaborations they have with artists from all horizons. Trio Sowari thus becomes a space in perpetual mutation where different currents of experimental music meet and in which asymmetrical concretions are formed, marking out an unpredictable topography. In 2024, Trio Sowari will be celebrating its 20th year of existence. Since 2004, the trio has played at numerous international festivals and venues throughout Europe. The group will release its fourth album to mark the anniversary.
